Grand Traverse Safe Streets Alliance

Dana Pflughoeft representing TART Trails and Rick Venner representing Cherry Capital Cycling Club shared information about the Grand Traverse Safe Streets Alliance. The organization formed with representatives from Cherry Capital Cycling Club, TART Trails, Norte, Groundwork, GTA Chapter of Citizen’s Climate Lobby, Disability Network Northern Michigan, Traverse City Track Club and the League of Michigan Bicyclists a year and a half ago. These organizations came together following Smart Commute Week. They use the 8-80 year old principle as a guide, aiming for safe, comfortable, and convenient mobility about the city. Safe Streets Alliance is providing a community resource to ask for advocacy for safe street initiatives. Their goal is to be non-adversarial. Work within the 5 county area and focused on Traverse City. They are looking for input from neighborhood associations for projects to improve safe mobility in your region.
